A Scientific Revolution in Bird Abatement

FlockOff can be use most any place pest birds are a problem and pigeon proofing is neededThe FlockOff System is a revolutionary, high-tech and humane solution to stop birds from landing on structures immediately and permanently.

Flock Off can help eliminate the costs, risks, health hazards and damage caused by birds, ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Conceived by a quantum physicist in 2009, and developed by experts in Ornithology and Entomology, Flock Off uses applied science to disrupt the actual migratory physiology of birds with a tuned, electromagnetic pulse, only felt by birds to over 10,000 structures.

HOW IT WORKS – Electromagnetism

Migratory and territorial birds utilize an internal GPS system connected to a protein production in their eyes that allows them to “see” directionally through earth’s latitudinal and longitudinal gridlines.

When birds fly near, Flock Off disrupts a key protein in their bodies that is used to navigate. It affects mineral crystals present in their beaks and wave receptors in their ears, eyes, and brain.

This momentarily halts their ability to judge speed, direction, and distance.

The birds experience what humans might feel as “vertigo” within 5 – 6 feet of the system…and simply cannot land.

Flock Off affects this process, creating an Electromagnetic “force field” around any structure that causes birds to simply find it impossible to land near the system, with Flock Off, Birds humanely and naturally relocate themselves!

How big is the FlockOff system?

The Flock Off System includes a reactor which is approximately 11 cm x 14 cm that generates electromagnetic pulses via stainless steel wire or flexible cable wrapped around capacitors approximately 1.75” high by 1.5” wide. One reactor will serve to create a field covering approximately 500 linear feet. The Flock Off System is very low profile and unobtrusive. It utilizes typical household current (110/220 volts or solar).

Proven Green & Efficient

Flock Off was recently studied by the University of Arizona. Their published findings show a virtually 100% efficacy rate for bird abatement while simultaneously doing NO harm to the birds. Flock Off is a 100% GREEN solution!

Safe & Humane

The operation frequency of Flock off affects virtually all problem birds! The system does not emit problematic radio frequency (RF) nor ultrasound waves. It operates at 120 HERTZ, in the audio frequency (AF) spectrum. This frequency is converted into an electromagnetic pulse and is not audible or harmful in any way and will not cause interference with electrical, electronic, wifi, communications or other systems.

Birds have a unique biological navigation system

To understand how Symterra’s FlockOff technology works, knowing a little bit about bird biology will help. Birds have a unique biological navigation system that provides them with an “internal GPS” that detects the magnetic field generated by the Earth’s core. To do this, they rely on a few key receptors:

How Birds Navigate: An Internal GPS

Birds have long fascinated scientists with their remarkable navigational abilities. Whether migrating thousands of miles or finding their way home from unfamiliar territories, birds demonstrate an extraordinary sense of direction and location. This navigational prowess is attributed to several specialized biological elements that function together like an internal GPS. These elements include special proteins in their eyes, mineral crystals in their beaks, and wave receptors in their ears, eyes, and brains.

Specialized Proteins in the Eyes

A key component of birds’ navigational system is a specialized protein called cryptochrome, found in their eyes. Cryptochrome is sensitive to blue light and is believed to play a crucial role in the birds’ ability to detect the Earth’s magnetic field.

When exposed to light, cryptochrome undergoes a chemical reaction which researchers believe enable birds to perceive magnetic fields as visual patterns or colors. This capability is particularly useful during migration when birds travel long distances and need to maintain a consistent direction.

Mineral Crystals in the Beaks

In addition to the cryptochrome in their eyes, birds also possess magneto-receptive abilities due to the presence of magnetite crystals in their beaks. Magnetite is a naturally occurring mineral that is highly sensitive to magnetic fields.

These crystals act like tiny compasses, allowing birds to detect the direction and intensity of the Earth’s magnetic field. The precise mechanism by which these crystals aid navigation is still under investigation, but it is clear that they provide critical information for orientation and movement.

Wave Receptors in Ears, Eyes, and Brains

Birds’ navigational systems are enhanced by wave receptors located in their ears, eyes, and brains. These receptors are sensitive to various environmental cues, including infrasound waves, which are low-frequency sound waves that can travel long distances and provide information about landscape features. Additionally, birds can detect polarized light, which helps them determine the position of the sun even when it is obscured by clouds.

The integration of these wave receptors with the magneto-receptive capabilities from the beak and the visual information from the eyes enables birds to create a comprehensive map of their surroundings. This multi-sensory approach allows birds to navigate with remarkable precision, even over vast and challenging terrains.

The ability of birds to navigate with such accuracy and precision is a testament to the sophisticated biological systems they possess. The specialized proteins in their eyes, the mineral crystals in their beaks, and the wave receptors in their ears, eyes, and brains all contribute to an internal GPS that guides them through their incredible journeys. Understanding these mechanisms not only sheds light on the marvels of avian navigation but also inspires further research into the complex interplay between biology and the Earth’s magnetic field.

FlockOff Bird Deterrent Systems use Science to stop pest Birds

Symterra FlockOff bird deterrent systems work by disrupting these finely-tuned navigational systems. By emitting electromagnetic waves, these systems interfere with the birds’ ability to detect magnetic fields and other environmental cues, making the area unattractive and confusing for them to navigate. As a result, birds are deterred from settling or roosting in areas protected by FlockOff, effectively reducing bird-related nuisances and damages.

FlockOff influences birds with an electromagnetic signal

Symterra’s FlockOff technology harmlessly interacts with any bird’s navigational system. When flying over your property, an electromagnetic “force field” tells the bird that your area or structure is off limits — and that they simply can’t land there. Unharmed and unaware of any disruption, the birds continue their search for a good place to roost, nest, or forage.

A key aspect of this approach is permanence. While birds can adapt to most physical deterrent measures like netting or spikes, they can’t change their biology. Once your property is protected by FlockOff, the receptors in their eyes and beaks will always sense the electromagnetic signal.
